Goodbye, Beautiful Loft Apartment..

Tomorrow we are moving out of our amazing loft apartment in the heart of downtown Athens. We had such an attachment to it, it's going to be a very sad day :-(
My beautiful room! It was so fun collecting things for it throughout the year. I got my iron bed frame from Scott's Antiques in Atlanta, GA, suzani pillows from TJ Maxx, curtains and throw from Anthropolgie, my farm table desk, side table, lamp and jute rug from West Elm, skull from Big Sky, MT, and frames from Hobby Lobby and various thrift stores.

Friends and family to keep me company :-)

I will miss this checkered bathroom floor!

My Summer Project: Erika Arnold Designs

I hope you enjoy my new project, Erika Arnold Designs, where I specialize in finding vintage denim jeans and recreate them into original, one-of-a-kind, fashion pieces.

It started during game-day season at UGA when my friends and I got sick of wearing sundresses to games. We didn't want to spend 70-100 bucks on cut-off jean shorts, so I went to thrift shore and made my own for me and my friends.  This past April I launched the project as a business on Facebook where I custom make orders by cutting, slashing, ripping, fraying, studding, bleaching and dying each pair of "jorts" by hand.

Enjoy this video montage Consume Media made about my business. They did an incredible job.

Hooked on Fleet Foxes

I might be slightly late in the game, but I just discovered this incredible new band, Fleet Foxes. I've been listening to their album "Helplessness Blues" (available on iTunes $9.99) on repeat after hearing one of their songs on an episode of GIRLS (another obsession). To me they are like a mash-up of Simon & Garfunkel meets Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young meets My Morning Jacket, which is a combination I cannot get enough of.

Enjoy some of their portrait shots by Sanchez and Kitahara from the Pitchfork Music Festival.

My favorite tracks: Montezuma, Battery Kinzie, Lorelai, The Shrine/An Argument
